Dickinson College receives the largest gift in its history, a $10 million unrestricted bequest. Dickinson also receives a $400,000 grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation to finance research in archaelogy and anthropology and $1 million from the Starr Foundation to help it attract students from economically-diverse backgrounds. Colby College receives $900,000 in grants to support environmental initiatives. Harvey Mudd College is awarded a $500,000 grant for the purpose of creating an Engineering Project Design Studio and Instructional Center. Two professors at Hamilton College are appointed to endowed chairs. Occidental University and Harvey Mudd College announce the formation of Presidential Search Committees.
