I'm taking my eight year old son to New York for the weekend for some quality father-son time. He wants to go to Coney Island, and this is his weekend, so I am happy to comply. Unfortunately, this weekend is the annual Mermaid Parade; see the picture below. I can distract him by handing him 50 bucks and letting him enjoy himself at the Shoot the Freak stand instead. What would a good parent do? What should I do?
