Daily abuse of power report

You open up the newspaper on any given day (today, for instance) and you're guaranteed fresh insights into the way the Bush Administration has shamelessly converted government agencies into tools for extension of its political power. Today's Washington Post reports further on the saga of Kyle Sampson and the US Attorney firings; tells the story of how "A senior Bush political appointee at the Interior Department has repeatedly altered scientific field reports to minimize protections for imperiled species and disclosed confidential information to private groups seeking to affect policy decisions;" and reports on "a presentation by a White House aide given to political appointees at the General Services Administration that discussed targeting 20 Democratic congressional candidates in the next election... Six political appointees at the GSA who participated in the videoconference said [GSA chief Lurita] Doan asked at the condlusion how the agency could help GOP candidates win in the next elections."

All in a day's work.
